In a statement Meyer Werft said. The latest delay has seen the maiden voyage from Hamburg now also cancelled and the ship is now expected to depart of its first cruise from Tenerife on 19 December 2018. For a short time-out in Advent AIDA Cruises has added two new short cruises.
AIDAnova is the largest ship to join the AIDA fleet and in fact the largest Carnival-owned ship ever built. Nine of these ships are to be built for Carnival Corporation plc by 2023 including three for AIDA Cruises. The AIDAnova is the lead ship of the Helios class.
The vessel is the Carnival Cruise Line brands first LNG-fueled ship and it shares basic design elements with seven other Carnival Corporation LNG vessels including AIDAnova and Costa Smeralda. On November 15 2018 AIDA Cruises will take ownership of its first newbuild of a new generation from the Meyer shipyard. On the morning of 12122018 the first cruise ship in the world powered primarily by LNG AIDAnova was handed over to the cruise line AIDA Cruises in Bremer.
